Meet Sam: Social Media Intern

Say hi to Sam, one of Random Agency's newest Social Media Interns! We can't wait to get to know him and what better way to do that than a Q & A?

First, the obvious question: Why did you choose Random Agency?

When I first looked into Random Agency, it seemed like they valued creative thinking. This became even more apparent when they asked me to create some social media content as part of my application. As part of an internship, I am really hoping to enhance my creative and strategic skills and I think Random Agency is the place that will help me build those skills.

Tell us three cool things about yourself.

1) I'm left-handed! This means that I smudge everything when I write, and I have the hardest time using scissors.

2) I drove across the entire country by myself in two days. Back in 2019, I found myself in Philadelphia, needing to get back to California in a short amount of time. Long story short, I drove non-stop for two days, only stopping to sleep in Walmart parking lots. A once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never do again.

3) I speak Spanish fluently and am working on learning Portuguese now!

Favorite TV show?

I'm usually not a TV person (movies all day), but my current favorite TV show is Severance! It's a combination of comedy, mystery, suspense, and just plain absurdism. It also has a really unique set design, which I'm learning is a green flag for me when it comes to TV shows.

If money was no object, where would you go and what would you do?

I would go to Argentina! I lived in Argentina from 2016 to 2018 and I miss it so much. I would probably go and visit friends, but I would mainly explore the many natural landmarks that the country has to offer.

What's in your refrigerator right now?

A one-pot cheesy spinach gnocchi meal I made last night. And a lot of spinach because I accidentally bought way more than I needed.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation because gas is expensive. Also because I would like to go to mars one day, but the thought of traveling in space scares me.

What's your favorite childhood memory?

Going anywhere outside. Where I grew up, we were equally distant from Yosemite or the beach, so we spent a lot of time at those two places. In my opinion, Yosemite is the Disneyland of National Parks, so every visit there was absolutely magical.

Name one thing you wish you could do better.

I wish I was better at sports. I am a big sports fan, but my athletic coordination doesn't extend past running and swimming. I just want to dunk a basketball.

Which three things would you take to a desert island?

Probably a musical instrument to keep myself entertained, a tent to sleep in, and a Costco Wholesale so I can buy food (I hope this isn't cheating).

What is the last book you read?

Life List by Olivia Gentile. It's about Phoebe Snetsinger, the woman who documented over 8,000 bird species in her lifetime. A wonderful book about a woman with an obsessive passion and the tragedies that occurred during her adventurous travels. Definitely recommend 👌🏼

What is your favorite account to follow on Instagram?

Right now, @sporarts. It's a page dedicated to athletic expression & culture through art. The page posts anything from vintage photography from past ad campaigns to paintings and illustrations inspired by sports.

Meet Julieta, Our Newest Social Media Intern

Say hi to Julieta, Random Agency's new Social Media Marketing Intern! We can't wait to get to know her and what better way to do that than a Q & A?

It's Julieta!

First, the obvious question: Why did you choose Random Agency?

It was the connection with both Lauren and Meghan who interviewed me. The energy and conversation we had left me feeling really good about what I could learn from them and the work we could create together. Working at Random allows for parts of my writing craft that can get rusty when writing longer format stories to come out of hibernation.

Tell us three cool things about yourself.

I can make the best vegan lasagna.

I've lived in three countries in the past 3 years.

As a kid, if I had the TV on, there was a 98% chance I watching Animal Planet.

Favorite TV show?

Right now, a telenovela from Argentina called Esperanza Mía.

If money was no object, where would you go and what would you do?

I would buy a piece of land big enough for me to have a few grazing animals, a vegetable garden, a chicken coop, and a house with a library. Probably somewhere in Europe.

What's in your refrigerator right now?

Grapes, tofu, sweet potatoes, spinach, SO many Medjool dates, and oatmeal.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

The power to heal any living thing.

What's your favorite childhood memory?

Running. We were in PE class and we were supposed to run 500 m. It was the entire class of girls. And I remember just feeling so much joy and adrenaline as I zoomed past. I didn't have to think I just had to work my legs as hard as they could go.

Name one thing you wish you could do better.

Focus.

Which three things would you take to a desert island?

A small eco-friendly house, a survival guide, and boots.

What is the last book you read?

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. So. Good.

What is your favorite account to follow on Instagram?

@staybeyondgreen - They're a company that works with sustainable lodging around the world. By promoting them and informing their followers about these places all in one place makes it easier for me to know where I could stay if I ever went somewhere. I always loved traveling and moving around but since finding out how much unnecessary pollution it brings to the earth I've wanted to adopt a gentler approach to it.

  3. I'm really handy and pretty good at fixing things!

Favorite TV show?

Right now, it's What We Do in the Shadows or Never Have I Ever.

If money was no object, where would you go and what would you do?

I would spend two months eating everything in Japan”I'd spend weeks in Tokyo, then take the train all around the archipelago and try regional food, go to temples, sit in a hot spring and never come out

What's in your refrigerator right now?

Four different kinds of kimchi and a peach-ginger icebox cake.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I would definitely want to be psychic.

What's your favorite childhood memory?

I used to stuff my little brother into the linen closet in the hallway and pretend he was a chicken”I was the farmer, and I'd come let him out and feed him he totally loved it. We played a lot of games like that!

Name one thing you wish you could do better.

I really wish I could play guitar better. I learned through the pandemic!

Which three things would you take to a desert island?

A lifetime supply of sunscreen, a biiiiig book, and a hatchet.

What is the last book you read?

I just finished Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro -I think he's wonderful.

It's Allison!

First, the obvious question: Why did you choose Random Agency?

Even though I'm working remotely, I chose Random for its unique and upbeat atmosphere. I was excited for the opportunity to have fun and still have a bit of a challenge in my internship.

Tell us three cool things about yourself.

I was a dancer for 14 years! I'm a poet. And I love to embroider.

My favorite TV show, hands down, is Killing Eve. Except”don't tell anyone this”I still haven't watched the third season. I just don't want it to be over yet!

Easy. I would move to the Scottish countryside, build myself a cottage and raise sheep. That's the dream.

What's in your refrigerator right now?

Cookie dough, CapriSun drinks, Lunchables. If you couldn't tell, I've recently become very nostalgic about what I ate as a kid.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I don't care if it sounds like a boring superpower, I want to be able to speak every language in the world. Imagine how cool that would be!

What's your favorite childhood memory?

My favorite memory is hanging out in the summer in my grandmother's driveway along with my cousins, drawing with chalk and eating popsicles.

Name one thing you wish you could do better.

I wish I could sing better. Maybe in another life I could become a singer-songwriter and make it as big as actual queen Taylor Swift.

Which three things would you take to a desert island?

I would bring a CD player, extra batteries and my CD of the greatest album of all time: Melodrama by Lorde.
